Our Service Standards

SETTING THE STANDARD

People need to get in touch with their local police station for a number of reasons, and not just because they've become a victim of crime. They many need to report a car accident, or be concerned about a friend or relative who appears to be missing.

If you needed to contact the police, how would you expect us to react?

The response you receive is as important to Essex Police as the particular matter is to you. For this reason we have set ourselves high standards of service.

We call these Service Delivery Standards, and we currently have 14 and others are being developed. They don't just cover crime. All the other important areas - traffic, public order, or contact with the public, and community affairs - are also included. Each standard is reviewed annually to see how we are meeting our aims.

Copies of Service Delivery Standards can be read in libraries and police stations in the force area. Leaflets are also sent to some victims of crime.
